France is ready to share its intelligence with Ukraine, stepping in for the United States.

France 24 reported on this.

Sébastien Lecornu, French Minister of the Armed Forces, made the announcement during an interview on France Inter radio on Thursday morning.

“Our intelligence is sovereign… built on our own capabilities. We are sharing it with the Ukrainians,” the Minister confirmed.

However, Lecornu refrained from providing further details, and the Ukrainian side has yet to comment on the matter.

The French Minister’s statement regarding the potential transfer of intelligence followed news from the previous day that the United States had suspended its intelligence sharing with Ukraine.

This intelligence had been crucial, among other things, for targeting strategic sites in Russia and guiding precision-strike American weapons near the front lines.

Later, U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz stated that the United States is urging Ukraine to begin negotiations with Russia as a condition for resuming intelligence sharing and arms supplies.

When asked about the suspension of intelligence sharing, Waltz explained that the U.S. has “taken a step back” to pause and review all aspects of its relationship with Ukraine.

“However, I recently spoke with my colleague, the Ukrainian National Security Adviser. We are having productive discussions about the venue, delegation composition, and agenda for the next round of talks. In the 24 hours following President Zelensky’s public statement, and with these ongoing conversations, I believe we will see progress very soon,” Waltz remarked.

U.S. intelligence agencies play a crucial role by supplying the Ukrainian Defense Forces with vital information on Russian troops in both occupied territories and within Russia itself.

French President Emmanuel Macron also announced a meeting of the chiefs of staff of European armies willing to join the contingent in Ukraine as part of security guarantees. This meeting is scheduled to take place next week in Paris.
