Ukrainian Armor Unveils Saigak Armored Vehicle

Ukrainian Armor has presented the new Saigak light armored vehicle on the Toyota Hilux chassis.

The vehicle was presented at the MSPO 2026 international defense exhibition in Kielce, Poland.

Ukrainian Armor CEO Vladyslav Belbas told Militarnyi that the Saigak was developed to transport military commanders and replace conventional unarmored SUVs.

“Before the war, we conducted development work on a universal pickup truck for Ukraine’s Defense Forces. That is where we got the name from. The requirements for armor protection are now much higher, so we redesigned and reinforced the vehicle,” Vladyslav Belbas shared.

The chassis features a reinforced suspension designed to handle the added weight of the armor. The vehicle offers high speed and off-road mobility.

The Saigak is designed to accommodate a five-person crew. The cabin is built as a protected armored capsule.

In terms of its layout, the vehicle resembles the Novator armored vehicle.

The armored capsule provides PZSA-3 ballistic protection. The armor is designed to protect against standard 5.45×39 mm and 7.62×39 mm bullets.

The vehicle is powered by a 2.4-liter diesel engine producing 240 horsepower, paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

The Saigak has a gross weight of 5 tons and a curb weight of approximately 3.5 tons. The vehicle is 5.4 meters long, with a body height of 1.85 meters.

The claimed top speed is 140 km/h, with a range of up to 600 kilometers. The fuel tank holds 80 liters, while fuel consumption ranges from 10 to 16 liters per 100 kilometers. The 265/65 R17 wheels have RunFlat inserts, allowing the vehicle to keep driving after the tires are damaged.

The equipment also includes front and rear cameras with a monitor, communications and navigation systems, air conditioning, a heater, and an automatic fire suppression system for the cabin and engine compartment.
