Ukroboronprom Reveals Designation of Palianytsia Missile-Drone

Ukroboronprom has revealed the designation of the Ukrainian-made Palianytsia missile-drone, which Ukraine’s Defense Forces use to strike targets in Russia.

The weapon was displayed under the designation UAV-290 at MSPO 2026, an international defense exhibition in Kielce, Poland.

Previously, the missile-drone was displayed at various exhibitions and events, sometimes as Palianytsia and other times as UAV-290.

It has now been officially confirmed for the first time that the two names refer to the same weapon, developed and manufactured by the state-owned Luch Design Bureau.

UAV-290 Palianytsia is designed to autonomously strike various stationary ground targets at the enemy’s tactical depth.

The missile-drone is equipped with a turbojet engine that provides a cruising speed of up to 800 km/h.

Palianytsia is launched from a trailer or semitrailer using a solid-fuel booster.

After launch, it switches to autonomous flight using an integrated INS+GPS navigation system.

The UAV-290 carries a 100 kg warhead and weighs 350 kg. Its stated range is 650 km.

The missile-drone is 3.5 meters long, with a 1.7-meter wingspan.

The manufacturer states that navigation and terminal guidance are performed using a combination of an autonomous inertial navigation system, immune to electronic warfare, and satellite navigation to correct deviations.

In August 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Ukraine’s Defense Forces had used, among other weapons, the UAV-290 to strike a Russian Navy base and port in Novorossiysk.
