Drones Strike Fuel Oil Terminal at Novorossiysk Port

Ukrainian drones struck a fuel oil terminal at the port of Novorossiysk in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai overnight on September 9.

GEOINT analysis from Militarnyi confirmed the strike, as did photos and videos published by monitoring channels.

The attack caused a fire at the terminal.

Around midnight, residents of Novorossiysk began reporting the sound of drones flying overhead, Russian air defense systems operating, and explosions.

Later, videos of a fire near the port infrastructure began appearing on Telegram channels.

Russian local authorities warned of a Ukrainian drone attack, and a missile threat was also declared in the region.

Novorossiysk Mayor Andrey Kravchenko later confirmed reports of strikes on industrial facilities, saying they were caused by “falling debris.”

NASA FIRMS satellites detected several fire hotspots in Novorossiysk following an overnight drone attack.

According to available information, a fire broke out at the Novorossiysk fuel oil terminal, where at least one storage tank was damaged.

The terminal targeted by drones

The Novorossiysk fuel oil terminal is part of the Novorossiysk transport hub and operates within the Novorossiysk commercial seaport.

The terminal specializes in storing and handling fuel oil and light petroleum products, with an annual capacity of around 4 million tonnes.

Overnight on September 7, Ukrainian drones struck Russian Mi-35 and Mi-8 helicopters at Taganrog-Central military airbase in the Rostov region.
