“Do You Want to See the Ukrainian Flag Over Warsaw?”: Russians Use Fake Accounts to Discredit Ukrspecsystems
Fake account of Ukrspecsystems CEO Dmytro Khasapov

Ukrspecsystems has been targeted by an information campaign aimed at discrediting the company in the Polish media.

The campaign culminated in the creation of a fake X account impersonating the company’s CEO, Dmytro Khasapov. The account was used to spread a false message to Warsaw City Hall, proposing to fly a Ukrainian flag over Warsaw using drones on August 24.

This was preceded by a series of incidents that appear to be part of a coordinated campaign targeting Ukrainian manufacturers.

Here is the timeline of events:

Early preparation and creation of a cover identity

June 2026

  • June 8-23, 2026: The fake “Dmytro Khasapov” account (@dmitro_hasapov) extensively reposted stolen authentic content to make the account appear legitimate. It published real news about 16,500 FPV drones from the Come Back Alive Foundation (June 17) and Ukrainian interceptor drones (June 18).

  • The account itself was created back in 2012, but its username was changed in June 2026. Following the change, the account began actively posting content under Dmytro Khasapov’s name.

Fabrication of the letter and warming up the audience

Late July 2026

  • July 20, 2026: The main forged document was created – a letter allegedly from Ukrspetsystems LLC to the Warsaw City Hall regarding a drone flight carrying the Ukrainian flag on Independence Day.
  • July 22, 2026: The fake “Khasapov” account published and pinned an announcement: “See you in Warsaw on August 24… Let’s make this celebration unforgettable…,” laying the groundwork for the subsequent publication of the forged letter.

  • July 31, 2026: The propaganda account Codziennik z Mordoru (@mordownik4u) began stoking anti-Ukrainian sentiment by publishing a false story about “three Ukrainians who tried to cut off a Polish man’s arm in Germany.”

Coordinated attack and Z-propaganda

August 17–18, 2026

  • August 17, 09:38: The fake “Khasapov” account published the forged letter dated July 20, with the caption: “Do you want to see the Ukrainian flag over Warsaw? 💪”
  • August 17, 16:16: Codziennik z Mordoru quoted the post, calling it a “brazen provocation” and a “slap in the face” to Poles.

  • August 17-18 (Mass hate speech): In the comments under the Codziennik z Mordoru post, bots and real users began calling en masse for the deportation of Ukrainians (DEPORTACJA WSZYSTKICH UKRAINCÓW!!). Direct evidence of a Russian connection also emerged: images were posted showing a Russian soldier bearing “Z” insignia killing a demon with a Ukrainian flag, along with a video depicting a bear (Russia) tearing apart a boar (Ukraine).
  • August 18: Codziennik z Mordoru continued to flood the information space with negative content, publishing manipulative posts about Ambassador Vasyl Bodnar (the Volhynia issue) and crime-related stories (such as a dog thrown into a trash bin and the arrest of a German woman) to maintain a high level of aggression on the account.

Some of this content is subsequently shared by other accounts and used to promote negative narratives about the company, its management, and its partners. In some cases, these posts are accompanied by hate speech based on nationality and attempts to artificially create tensions around Ukrainian-Polish relations.

We regard such activity as bearing the hallmarks of a targeted information campaign. Its impact is not limited to reputational damage to Ukrspecsystems and its employees; it also creates an information environment in which false claims are used to incite hostility between Ukraine, our international partners, and the societies of countries that support Ukraine.

We emphasize that Ukrspecsystems has no connection whatsoever to statements published in the name of company employees through unofficial or fake accounts.
