European Defence Fund and EUDIS Defence Hackathon: Opportunities for Defence Companies. #1 DIGEST BY INTEGRASYS

Ukraine has just taken a major step toward deeper integration with Europe’s defence-innovation ecosystem: in mid-July, Brussels and Kyiv signed agreements making Ukrainian companies full beneficiaries of the European Defence Fund (EDF) and the European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP), unlocking direct EU grants and a dedicated €300 million Ukraine Support Instrument (USI). At the same time, NATO’s DIANA accelerator closed its largest-ever challenge round, six areas and a record cohort of innovators, a clear signal of where Alliance funding priorities are heading next. Here is what’s open right now for Ukrainian defence and dual-use teams.

1. European Defence Fund 2026: €1 billion, 26 open calls

Deadline: 29 September 2026

Twenty-six calls spanning air and missile defence, quantum-secured networks, AI and situational awareness, GNSS resilience, spectrum superiority and more. Consortia typically need partners from at least three EU/associated countries. With Ukraine’s new associate status, Ukrainian companies can now join as full beneficiaries rather than third-country participants.

2. EUDIS Defence Hackathon: “Autonomy on the Battlefield”

15-17 October 2026 · multiple EU cities

An EU-wide hackathon for dual-use and defence-tech teams, run simultaneously across several local hubs. Early registration is recommended through the local organiser network.

3. European Defence Innovation Forum (EDIF) 2026

11-12 November 2026 · The Hague, Netherlands

The EU’s flagship defence-innovation forum, over 1,000 attendees expected, with a dedicated session, “Defence Without Borders: Strengthening Europe with Ukrainian Experience.” Ukrainian startups (Vyriy, AI Armaments, TAF and OKO Camera among past partners) exhibit alongside EU primes and investors.
