The Armed Forces of Ukraine will soon receive the Bayraktar TB2 drone from Lithuania.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of this country.
Today, on Wednesday, July 6, the unmanned combat aerial vehicle was presented to the Lithuanian public, soon it will be handed over to Ukrainian defenders.
“It is impossible to win a war with one weapon, but symbols are extremely important in any war,” National Defense Minister Arvydas Anušauskas said during the event.
The presentation of the Bayraktar TB2 donated by Turkey took place at the Air Force Base of Lithuania. Everyone could briefly see the drone bought due to Lithuanians that raised money for it.
“Actions speak louder than words. We hope that Lithuanians experience will inspire other countries as well,” Ukrainian Ambassador to Lithuania Petro Beshta said.
The drone along with the ammunition was delivered from Istanbul to Lithuania.
As previously reported, in June, Lithuania signed a purchase contract with Turkey on the Bayraktar drone for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In honour of Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression, Lithuanians joined their efforts to buy an unmanned combat aerial vehicle for Ukraine.
They raised over €5 million in just three and a half days — largely in small amounts. This was the first time in history when common people raised money to buy a drone to defend another country.
The campaign was initiated by Lithuanian Andrews Tapinas. He launched the campaign on May 25, saying he had agreed to a potential purchase with the defence ministries of Lithuania, Turkey and the manufacturer. The next day a special broadcast was held in its support with the participation of top Lithuanian officials and the Ukrainian ambassador in Lithuania.
The Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat aerial vehicle for Lithuania was named Vanagas, which translates as Hawk.
