Two Su-35S Fighters Collide in Russia

Two Russian Su-35S fighters collided in the Kursk region.

This was reported by the Russian military aviation Telegram channel Fighterbomber.

The consequences of the incident have not yet been disclosed. The Russians have not yet been able to determine the cause of the collision.

According to the Russian Telegram channel Voevoda Veshchayet, one pilot was killed in the collision, while the other managed to survive.

The Su-35S fighter is one of the main workhorses of the Russian military—on par with the Su-30 and Su-34. Like these aircraft, it is a major upgrade of the Su-27.

The development of the Su-35S was driven by the desire of designers and military officials to transform the Su-27 “pure fighter” into a 4+ generation multi-role aircraft capable of effectively engaging both ground and air targets.

The Russian Aerospace Forces received the latest batch of Su-35S fighters on August 27 of this year.
