UK Allocates £100 Million Package to Ukraine, Including Patriot Missiles

The UK has allocated £100 million for a new air defense package for Ukraine ahead of the winter season.

According to European Pravda, the package will include interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems, large-caliber artillery ammunition, and drones.

The weapons will be procured through the PURL (Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List) mechanism, under which partner countries fund the purchase of US-made weapons for Ukraine.

The British government plans to ensure Patriot missiles and other air defense equipment are delivered before winter begins. The weapons are intended to strengthen the protection of Ukrainian cities, critical infrastructure, and the Ukrainian Defense Forces against Russian air attacks.

“We promised to mobilise our allies and provide as much support as we can,” UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting stated.

According to Streeting, during a recent visit to Kyiv, the British side received information from the President of Ukraine about the country’s needs ahead of the winter.

London expects Russia to continue attacking civilian and energy infrastructure.

The package was announced ahead of the next meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, known as the “Ramstein” format, which will take place online on September 8.

UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius will co-chair the meeting.

Strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses will be one of the main topics of the Ramstein meeting, as Ukraine prepares for the coming winter.
