China Sends Dozens of Military Jets and Ships Near Taiwan in One Day

On March 29, Taiwan’s military reported 19 Chinese military aircraft and 9 naval ships operating near the island.

Radio Taiwan International confirmed that, in addition to combat planes and ships, Taiwanese forces also spotted two Chinese government vessels.

The Chinese aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait 13 times and entered Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).

The Ministry of National Defence of Taiwan said its forces monitored the situation, deploying aircraft, ships, and coastal missile systems as needed.

Such Chinese air and naval activity near Taiwan is frequent and is seen as a form of pressure on the island.

As early as February, reports noted that in 2025 China demonstrated unprecedented growth in influence and expanded the geographic scope of its military presence in the Indo-Pacific region.

Last year, a record number of air incursions into Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) were recorded. Analysts also highlighted the first-ever simultaneous operations of two aircraft carrier strike groups in the Pacific and a shift in activity toward the South China Sea.

After the inauguration of Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te (William Lai) in May 2024, Chinese command established a significantly higher baseline of monthly activity, which the PLA maintained throughout 2025.

The total number of Chinese aircraft entries into Taiwan’s ADIZ reached 3,764, an increase of 22.4% compared to the previous year.
