Croatia Signs Contract for South Korean K239 Chunmoo Multiple Rocket Launchers

Croatia has signed a €435.2 million contract, excluding VAT, for the supply of K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers and the integration of a command-and-staff system.

The Croatian Ministry of Defense reported this.

Under the contract, South Korean company Hanwha Aerospace will supply 18 self-propelled launchers and missiles for them.

The K239 Chunmoo will replace the outdated 122 mm Vulkan M92 and BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers. According to previous reports, the procurement will provide the Croatian military not only with guided and unguided rockets but also CTM-290 ballistic missiles with a range of up to 300 km.

The contract also covers the supply, installation and integration of a command-and-staff system from Polish company WB Electronics, which integrated the TOPAZ automated fire control system into multiple rocket launchers purchased by Poland.

The project is scheduled to be implemented from 2026 to 2029, with the entire package to be delivered within 24 to 36 months. In 2028, Croatia is expected to receive 85% of the Chunmoo system.

The procurement package also includes trucks for transporting ammunition, fire control centers, training and technical documentation, containers with training missile simulators, missile testing equipment, and initial spare parts kits under the contract with South Korean company Hanwha Aerospace.
