The Netherlands ordered the latest DITA self-propelled guns for Ukraine in the Czech Republic.
The Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands announced that they recently ordered nine ACS for Ukraine.
“The DITA self-propelled gun is a modern artillery weapon capable of hitting targets tens of kilometers away. Ukraine has a great need for these weapons,” the Dutch Ministry of Defense shared.
It is noted that these weapons are part of a large Dutch order for Ukraine, which two manufacturers in the Czech Republic supply.
DITA 155mm ACS is manufactured by Czech manufacturer and arms exporter Excalibur Army.
The self-propelled gun is equipped with an improved onboard control system and an autonomous superstructure.
DITA uses NATO-standard 155mm ammunition with a range of 39 km.
It is developed on the original Czechoslovak concept of the Dana vz.77 howitzers, built on the chassis of the Tatra truck.
Due to the high level of automation, DITA has a high rate of fire with only two crew members – a driver and a commander, and a 40-round ammunition capacity.
The self-propelled gun has a modern on-board control system, the ability to quickly deploy to and from combat positions, and good cross-country ability.
On February 27, General Onno Eichelsheim, Commander of the Armed Forces of the Netherlands, visited the Czech Republic. He also inspected the VERA-NG radar system, which the Netherlands ordered for Ukraine as well.
The Command of the Netherlands Armed Forces emphasized that support for Ukraine remains a top priority for the Netherlands. Earlier, the country ordered 100 MP-2 anti-aircraft systems from the Czech Republic and, together with the United States and Denmark, set to modernize 100 T-72 battle tanks.
