On the night of Saturday, October 10, Ukrainian drones struck an oil terminal in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don. A massive fire broke out at the site of the strike.
Video footage taken by an eyewitness at the scene was published by the monitoring resource Exilenova+.
The region’s governor, Yuriy Slyusar, confirmed the UAV attack on the region and the fire in the city.
According to Astra, the drones struck the oil loading terminal of the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery—the NZNP Oil Loading Terminal, formerly known as Yug Rusi.
The struck terminal is located in the Zheleznodorozhny district of Rostov-on-Don. It is used for transshipping petroleum products for export, supplying the Russian military with fuel, and generating foreign currency revenue.
The facility’s design capacity is approximately 2.5 million metric tons per year.
A previous strike on the oil loading terminal took place on July 9, 2026.
The governor also reported damage to a railway bridge, which led to a halt in traffic in both directions.
In addition, the official reported that Russian air defense systems were activated. Subsequently, local residents heard a series of explosions.
The day before, the Ukrainian Defense Forces also attacked the Lukoil-Ukhtanaftopererobka oil refinery in Ukhta, Russia, in the Komi Republic. The facility is a key oil refining site in the northwestern region of the Russian Federation.
The plant specializes in refining heavy, high-sulfur crude oil extracted from fields in the Timan-Pechora oil and gas province, particularly the Yarez field.
The plant’s installed capacity is approximately 4.2 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The plant’s main products include motor gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, fuel oil, vacuum gas oil, as well as road and construction bitumen.
