The German Ministry of Defense has signed a contract with the American RTX (Raytheon) to purchase additional Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems.

This is stated in the company’s press release.

The total value of the signed contract is over $1.2 billion, which includes the supply of launchers, radars, command posts, associated spares, and support.

The order is placed on the latest version of the air defense system in the PAC-3MSE version, which will qualitatively complement the fleet of German PAC-2 systems.

“This contract reflects the global emphasis on advanced air and missile defense capabilities and the steadfast confidence in Patriot,” stated Tom Laliberty, president of Land and Air Defense Systems at Raytheon.

In general, Germany will acquire four additional Patriot SAM systems that will cover this gap, which was created due to the transfer of air defense systems to Ukraine from the German Air Forces.

It should be noted that Germany will also implement the production of MIM-104E anti-aircraft missiles for the Patriot PAC-2.

In general, it is planned to produce more than 500 PAC-2 anti-aircraft missiles under license from Raytheon at MBDA Germany in Schrobenhausen.

It should be noted that the first deliveries should take place in 2027, with the transfer of the last system in 2029.

In addition, Germany plans to work on improving the capabilities of existing systems by integrating a new combat control system and radar.

Previously, Militarnyi reported that the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) would conclude a contract for the purchase of 1000 missiles in the GEM-T variant for the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system.

Thus, the Alliance supports the member countries of the European Sky Shield Initiative, including Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, and Spain.
