Bulgaria will begin equipping critical infrastructure sites with drone-countermeasure systems.

This was announced by Bulgarian Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev, as quoted by Reuters.

The minister said that the government had analyzed the security status of critical infrastructure sites and decided to begin equipping them with anti-drone systems.

Demerdzhiev noted that the police have also been instructed to step up patrols at weapons manufacturing and storage facilities.

This move came a few days after a fire at a weapons warehouse owned by EMCO. The incident raised concerns about the security of ammunition manufacturers.

The Bulgarian Minister of the Interior noted similarities between this incident and a previous fire at the EMCO warehouse in August.

The prosecutor’s office is considering all possibilities, including the possibility of arson.
