Polish company Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne (WZM) in Poznań will receive South Korean technology for servicing and overhauling DV27K engines used in K2 tanks.
The start of cooperation between the Polish plant and Hyundai Rotem was announced during an official event in Poznań, Defence24 reports.
Establishing a service facility at the local plant will allow Poland to independently maintain the operational readiness of its K2 tank fleet.
The Polish Army has already received more than 200 South Korean combat vehicles, while production of their specialized Polish K2PL variant will begin at the Bumar-Łabędy Mechanical Plant.
WZM has many years of experience in diagnosing and overhauling engines for various tracked and wheeled armored vehicles.
The DV27K is a South Korean four-stroke, 12-cylinder liquid-cooled diesel engine rated at 1,500 horsepower, developed by HD Hyundai Infracore.
Poland gave no firm guarantees that production of K2PL tanks can begin in 2028.
