Israel has eliminated Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and one of the most influential ideologists of the current regime. He was killed in an airstrike on the night of March 17.
The press service of the Israel Defense Forces and Israel Katz, the country’s Defense Minister, reported this.
Larijani was staying in a safe house, where he had arrived the day before. Iran has not yet officially confirmed the news of his death.
For decades, he remained a key figure in Tehran’s government hierarchy. He is considered the head of the country’s nuclear program, as well as the strategist behind the Islamic Republic’s foreign expansion.
Larijani’s career included leadership positions in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the presidency of the Iranian parliament. He also headed the state-run IRIB broadcasting company for many years, making him the chief architect of the regime’s propaganda machine.
According to the Israeli army, during the latest wave of protests against the theocratic regime, it was Larijani who played a key role in suppressing the protests.
He coordinated security operations and oversaw the mass crackdown on civilian protesters who were advocating for change in the country.
