A new secure military communications system for the Belarusian Ministry of Defense is being deployed across Belarus. It is designed to support the deployment and movement of Russian troops toward the borders of NATO countries.

This is according to the analytical report “The Militarization of Belarus,” presented in Warsaw by the Belarusian association BELPOL and the clandestine Community of Railway Workers of Belarus (CRWB), as reported by Centrum Europy.

The 48-page document was presented the previous day with the participation of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, leader of Belarus’s democratic forces, as part of the Warsaw Security Forum.

According to the authors, the report was compiled using open sources, materials from the Belarusian underground, and information obtained from Russian generals.

The network under construction is based on radio relay links and directional antennas that allow data to be transmitted over radio channels with minimal risk of interception or eavesdropping.

Specialized equipment is being installed on towers operated by mobile operator MTS, which is 49% owned by Russia and 51% by the Belarusian state.

BELPOL analysts emphasize that the system’s architecture indicates that it is designed to meet Russia’s military needs.
The radio relay network is not being built outward from Minsk to regional centers. Instead, continuous east-to-west routes are being established from the Russian border to the borders of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Ukraine.

One such route is being laid along the M-10 highway between Gomel and Brest.

BELPOL representative Matvei Kupreichik said the geographical distribution of the repeaters points to preparations to provide infrastructure for the Russian army, while the system’s sole command center is located in Russia.

It was previously reported that in the second half of 2025, Russia deployed a network of repeaters in Belarus to control drones attacking northern regions of Ukraine.

Areas stretching from the Kyiv region to Volyn are at risk of strikes by these Russian drones.
