Ukraine announces a fundraising for 10,000 FPV kamikaze drones

The UNITED24 initiative, the Come Back Alive Foundation, and Monobank are joining forces to purchase 10,000 kamikaze drones.

Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine made the announcement on Monday morning.

This joint project is called Operation Unity. It is designed to provide the Ukrainian Defense Forces with weapons that directly impact the course of hostilities against the Russian invaders.

The goal of the announced fundraising is UAH 235 million.

• UAH 178,000,000 for FPV drones;
• UAH 57,000,000 for ammunition for them.

The kamikaze drones will be purchased abroad, and in Ukraine they will be equipped with Ukrainian-made HEAT-Frag bomblets and thermobaric munitions.

The Deputy Prime Minister notes that these are the drones that are needed by the Ukrainian defenders at the front right now. According to him, “it is they who change the course of events”.

The Come Back Alive Foundation will purchase and deliver the kamikaze drones to the troops.

FPV drones and ammunition have been approved by the Ukrainian military. UNITED24 provides information support to the project.

FPV drones are a type of drones that are actively being used during Russia’s war with Ukraine. The main difference between these UAVs and others is that they are controlled through special goggles, i.e. with a first-person view, which is what the acronym FPV stands for – First Person View.

The operator sees the video from the drone’s camera in real time as if he were sitting inside the UAV itself, just like the pilot.

FPV kamikaze drones are high-precision weapons capable of killing personnel, as well as destroying fortifications and heavy armored vehicles.
