Two foreigners, aged 20 and 21, were detained in Bulgaria for setting fire to Starlink satellite communication antennas.
This was reported by Ruslan Trad, editor of the Bulgarian media outlet Kapital.
According to him, the two men held German passports and entered the country legally through the Kulata border crossing.
The incident occurred on the night of October 10 at a restricted facility in the Plana mountain range near Sofia.
There, 11 out of 17 antennas were deliberately set on fire, as previously reported by Bulgarian MP Ivaylo Mirchev.
According to the lawmaker, surveillance cameras captured footage of two masked men.
Law enforcement detained the suspects on October 12, after the Ministry of the Interior and the security services had concealed the act of sabotage for three days.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev confirmed that an extremely intensive investigation into the incident is underway in cooperation with partner intelligence agencies.
Bulgarian Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev announced the implementation of additional security measures for similar facilities throughout the country.
Militarnyi previously reported that two Turkish citizens were detained in Germany on suspicion of setting fire to a Starlink ground station near Warsaw.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called the incident yet another act of hybrid warfare.
He stated that those responsible for the sabotage will face trial in a Polish court.
