German company Quantum Systems is developing the Sparta drone capable of carrying several FPV drones.
The company told Hartpunkt that work on the new device is being carried out directly on the territory of Ukraine.
Director of Quantum Systems’ Ukrainian representative office Oleksandr Berezhnyi told Militarnyi that the company also plans to launch mass production of Sparta in Ukraine.
According to the plans, the Sparta drone will be put into mass production by the end of this year.
The design is currently at the prototype stage, so some features may be changed.
Sparta is equipped with payload attachment points on both sides of the wing.
Carrier drones are unmanned systems that transport other drones and can be launched in the air. This approach can significantly increase the range of FPV drones.
According to Quantum Systems, Sparta is configured to use modular payloads ranging from other drones to various sensor systems. Thus, Sparta can perform both the functions of a base drone and a reconnaissance platform.
The design of the drone is reminiscent of classic gliders. It has a V-shaped tail fin (pointing upward) and an electric push rotor at the rear.
Unlike other Quantum Systems drones, Sparta is launched by catapult and landed via touchdown, not by parachute.
The flight time of the prototype is six to eight hours, with a range of up to 200 km. The maximum takeoff weight of the system with the payload is 23 kg, of which about 8 kg is the payload. At the same time, the production version may have different specifications.
Earlier it became known that Quantum Systems would launch the production of Twister drones at Ukrainian facilities just four months after its first presentation.
