An unknown Russian cruise missile was found in the Odesa region; it had crashed in an open area and was relatively intact.
Photos of the missile were published by the local Telegram channel ODESSA INFO LIVE.
Based on the published images, the missile sustained minimal damage during the crash, allowing Ukrainian experts to study its design in detail.
In terms of its design, this missile is a small-sized cruise missile with a rectangular fuselage cross-section and rounded edges, as well as a swept-back wing.
The boxy fuselage contours and flat faces likely simplify production and the layout of internal compartments.
This design choice may also be part of measures to reduce the vehicle’s radar signature.
The missile is equipped with a small turbojet engine, with its nozzle located in the V-shaped tail section, while the power plant’s air intakes are positioned on the fuselage sides.
The image also shows tail fins with an offset geometry. The fuselage itself is made of dark-colored composite materials to reduce the cross-sectional area (RCS).
As a reminder, the first photos of the new rocket were released by Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov on October 22.
Although he also calls the new missile the Geran-5 K5-K, its external appearance differs significantly from the known Geran-5 K5-K version.
“The missile’s distinctive features include an optical navigation system, increased range, speed, and flight altitude,” he said.
You can read more about these upgrades and the missiles’ operational capabilities in the article published by Militarnyi on October 23.
