Liz Truss, British Foreign Secretary urges the Western allies to supply Ukraine with warplanes and other heavy weapons.

CNN reports, citing a news release from the UK’s Foreign Office that she is expected to deliver a speech on Thursday at the Mansion House.

“And let’s be clear – if Putin succeeds there will be untold further misery across Europe and terrible consequences across the globe. We would never feel safe again,” Truss said.

It is also stressed that the UK and its partners should double down on their support for Ukraine.

“So we must be prepared for the long haul and double down on our support for Ukraine. Heavy weapons, tanks, aeroplanes — digging deep into our inventories, ramping up production. We need to do all of this,” Truss will be saying, according to the release.

The global security architecture “that was designed to guarantee peace and prosperity has failed Ukraine” and a “new approach” is needed, Truss will say.

The day before, the Air Force Command published an appeal by a Ukrainian ace pilot Yuriy Bulavka calling for the rearmament of the Ukrainian servicemen with new aircraft.

He shared that the Ukrainian servicemen have a plan to retrain pilots and engineers as quickly as possible in order to quickly master the equipment.

“American F-16s “Falcon”, F-15, and maybe F-18, would be enough to incline the advantage to our side. After all, these planes have powerful on-board radars, technological equipment, and most importantly – missiles with active homing heads,” he said.

It was previously reported that in the coming weeks, Britain would be handing over the Brimstone missiles to Ukraine.
