According to the results of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, 12 countries agreed to transfer Leopard tanks to Ukraine.
ABC News journalists reported about this with reference to a high-ranking Ukrainian official.
According to the journalistic source, Ukraine expects to get 100 Leopard 2 tanks from the allies.
The media noted that in addition to Poland and Germany, Spain, Denmark and the Netherlands also agreed to provide some of their tanks to Ukraine. Other countries have not yet been named.
Currently, it is known that Poland has sent a request to Germany to transfer the Leopard tanks to Ukraine.
Finland also announced its intentions to transfer equipment under the coalition. At the same time, the Netherlands announced that it is ready to finance tanks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The head of the Office of the President of Poland, Paweł Szrot, announced Denmark’s intentions.
As for the tanks from Spain, information about their possible transfer was reported back in the summer. At the same time, the country’s government decided not to hand over its Leopards to Ukraine, as they needed significant modernization.
In addition, Great Britain will transfer a company of Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine.
The French Ministry of Defense is also working on the issue of a possible transfer of Leclerc tanks to Ukraine.
As previously reported, the USA is considering the transfer of Abrams tanks to Ukraine.
