A demonstration of all-terrain vehicles from the Ukrainian manufacturer SHERP will be held for the military in Greenland.
Danmarks Radio reported that the all-terrain vehicles are planned to be shown to the Armed Forces and emergency services of Denmark.
“To show how this vehicle performs in extreme conditions. The environment here is exactly what it was built for,” said Jakob Skoustrup, director of Apollotech Systems, a SHERP dealer.
Companies are now actively focusing on Greenland, where billions have already been allocated for rearmament.
SHERP all-terrain vehicles owned by Arctic Capacity were used for testing in Greenland. The company handles all types of logistics operations in Greenland and the Arctic.
Last year, agreements worth 42 billion kroner were signed regarding rearmament in the Arctic and the North Atlantic, and in February this year, NATO established the Arctic Sentry mission to strengthen its presence in the region.
“I think everyone has already realized how important it is to defend and control the Arctic. So what we are seeing now will continue into the future,” noted Jakob Skoustrup.
Ukrainian all-terrain vehicles are exported to many countries. SHERP has assembly plants in Turkey and India, but the main factory, design bureau, and component production remain in Ukraine.
SHERP all-terrain vehicles are manufactured by KVADRO INTERNATIONAL at its plant in Kyiv. The only imported components in the SHERP are the engine and transmission from Renault and Doosan. The plant manufactures the other components independently, almost from scratch.
The vehicle’s design is based on a boat, as the SHERP must be able to float. When the all-terrain vehicle enters the water, it continues to move at a speed of 6 km/h. The capsule is completely watertight, but there is a water drainage system in case of emergencies.
The SHERP is a single-track vehicle: when turning, only two of the four wheels on one side move, allowing the vehicle to turn like tracked equipment. The steering mechanism consists of over 90 parts, which are also manufactured at the plant.
In 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were authorized to use the new domestically produced TAHA amphibious all-terrain vehicle.
