Ukrainian Defense Forces Strike Electrical Substation in Occupied Luhansk

The Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a drone strike on the Kirova electrical substation in occupied Luhansk.

Video and photos of the resulting fire were published by the Exilenova+ Telegram channel. The footage shows thick black smoke billowing into the sky following the attack.

The Kirova electrical substation is designed to receive, convert, and distribute high-voltage electricity (220 kV) to urban and industrial networks at lower voltage levels.

The substation receives electricity from the Luhansk Thermal Power Plant, which has a capacity of approximately 1,450 MW. It is one of the largest thermal power stations in eastern Ukraine.

As previously reported, the Ukrainian Defense Forces recently struck the Belgorod Thermal Power Plant using HIMARS rocket systems.

As a result of the strike, power and water supply disruptions occurred in several districts of the city.
