German company Quantum Systems and Ukrainian drone manufacturer Frontline Robotics have announced the creation of a joint venture, Quantum Frontline Industries (QFI).

The new company plans to scale up the production of Ukrainian defense solutions using German automation expertise. The project is being implemented as part of the international initiative Build with Ukraine.

In a commentary to Militarnyi, the company said it plans to produce more than 10,000 drones a year.

QFI will become the first German-Ukrainian joint defense enterprise in the field of unmanned technologies. It will launch a fully automated industrial drone production line for the Ukrainian Defense Forces in Europe.

The new line will mass-produce Zum and Lens drones developed by Frontline Robotics. All systems manufactured in Germany will be supplied to the Ukrainian military in the quantity specified by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

The production facility will combine frontline-proven Ukrainian technology with German engineering automation, creating a new model of transnational cooperation in the defense industry.

In addition, the company will open additional employment opportunities for Ukrainians in Germany, which will be an important social aspect of the project.

Quantum Systems will provide industrial infrastructure and administrative support. At the same time, Frontline Robotics will provide a production license, instruct and organize staff training in accordance with NATO standards.

“Ukrainians have fundamentally changed the rules of drone warfare, and now we will change the rules of defense industrial production together. For Quantum Systems, this is a logical step in supporting Ukraine. By combining our experience with Frontline Robotics’ experience, we will create the first foreign production of this scale for Ukraine,” says Sven Kruk, Co-CEO of Quantum Systems.

Matthias Lena, CEO of Quantum Systems, who will lead the new venture, noted that QFI has three goals: to scale, to expand, and to create. He emphasized that the co-production will combine German engineering excellence with a Ukrainian sense of urgency.

The launch of QFI builds on the strategic partnership between the two companies signed earlier this year and is an important step towards establishing a new European industrial drone base.

For security reasons, the exact location of the new facility has not been disclosed.
