The Thai military has strengthened the protection of its M113 tracked armored personnel carriers with additional “eco-friendly” armor.

The video is being shared on social media.

The footage shows how M113s are additionally protected by wooden logs covering the sides and bow of the vehicles during offensives against Cambodian troops.

This protection is likely intended to protect the APCs and their crews from shrapnel and small arms fire.

This concept has merit – wooden logs can significantly absorb the kinetic energy of bullets and fragments, reducing their penetrating power.

At the same time, such protection has a significant drawback: if the wood catches fire, it will be very difficult to extinguish the fire on the armored personnel carrier.

Recently, it was reported that the Thai army for the first time used Ukrainian Oplot-T tanks for real combat operations in Cambodia.

The tanks were fitted with lightweight slat armor to protect the turrets from drones and explosives.
