New satellite imagery from Severodvinsk shows the Russian nuclear-powered submarine Khabarovsk in full size for the first time.
The photo was taken on November 2, 2025 at 09:05, provided by Vantor Tech and SkyFi, and published by military analyst Planesandstuff.
The image shows a boat on a slipway near the Sevmash shipyard workshop, where new submarines of Project 09851 are being assembled.
According to approximate measurements, the boat is 135-140 meters long and about 13.5 meters wide, which confirms that it belongs to the class of large unmanned underwater carriers.
“The Khabarovsk is considered a platform for unmanned Poseidon torpedoes, which are capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and operating at intercontinental range.
This submarine is one of the most secretive projects of the Russian Navy, developed on the basis of the design solutions of the Borey submarine.
The exact characteristics of the new submarine are not known for certain.
However, according to unconfirmed data from Russian specialized sources:
The appearance of the boat in the images may indicate preparation for sea trials or the completion of the hull completion stage after a long period of inactivity, analysts say.
It was recently reported that Russia had launched the Khabarovsk nuclear submarine, the first carrier of the Poseidon torpedo.
