The United States and Ukraine are set to hold a series of high-level meetings shortly to discuss the provision of American military aid.
According to Politico, citing sources familiar with the plans, these talks will involve Keith Kellogg, the special representative of U.S. President Donald Trump, meeting with Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umierov first in Italy and subsequently in Ukraine.
“The issue of aid will undoubtedly be a top priority on the agenda,” the media noted.
Additionally, on Monday, the Pentagon announced that, under President Trump’s directive, additional defensive weapons will be supplied to Ukraine.
According to Politico, the United States has already informed Kyiv that shipments of engineering equipment and some armored vehicles will resume soon. However, specific timelines have not yet been announced.
The media noted that the meeting between Kellogg and Umierov in Kyiv was originally not intended to discuss American military aid and had been “planned before news of the pause in arms deliveries emerged last week.”
Speaking to reporters on Monday evening, Trump confirmed that more military aid would be sent to Ukraine but did not disclose specific details.
