Russia’s Kavkazskaya Oil Facility Won’t Resume Operations Soon After Strike

The Ukrainian drone attack on Kavkazskaya oil transshipment point in Russia’s Krasnodar region has led to a complete shutdown of operations.

According to the Russian media RBC, restoring the facility’s operations in the foreseeable future is impossible.

The operator, Caspian Pipeline Consortium, is currently carrying out restoration work.

The fire at the facility broke out on the night of March 19, following the drone strike.

The explosion caused oil tank depressurization and a large-scale fire.

Eyewitnesses report that on the night of March 21, a second drone strike targeted the facility.

According to them, three drones struck oil tanks, and some rescue workers may have been injured and taken to the hospital.

However, this information has not yet been officially confirmed, and no video evidence of a second attack has surfaced.

The Kavkazskaya transshipment point plays a key role in transporting oil to Novorossiysk, from where it is exported abroad.

It facilitates the transfer of Russian oil from rail transport to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s pipeline system, with an annual capacity of 6 million tons.

The complex includes a railway oil terminal and a 15.7 km connecting pipeline to the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station.

On March 20, drones attacked Russia’s Saratov region, with explosions reported near the Engels-2 military airfield.
