News

On the night of January 24, a Ukrainian drone disabled the Kremniy El microelectronics plant in Bryansk, Russia.

The russia no context Telegram channel reported on this and published relevant videos.

This enterprise is one of the largest microelectronics manufacturers in Russia. Its products are used, in particular, for military purposes.

The first published video shows an explosion after a drone hit the building of the Russian Kremniy El plant.

And the next video shows a local resident filming the fire that followed the explosion from the window of his apartment.

A photo with smoke rising from the building of the enterprise was also published at night by the Bryansk Now Telegram channel.

In the morning, the Russian propaganda outlet TASS reported that a kamikaze drone strike had suspended the plant’s operations due to damage to part of the production facilities.

The new attack came after the Russians claimed on Thursday that they had “restored the facade” of the Kremnyy El plant after the previous strike on the night of October 19.

A report by the Novosti Bryansk Telegram channel said that the previous attack had caused serious damage to the plant: production and power buildings had been damaged, power supply had been disrupted, and process chains had been stopped. It also noted that the restoration of the plant’s equipment was complicated by problems with the procurement of necessary components.

However, this information cannot be verified. Because the Russians may deliberately make false statements about an allegedly non-operational enterprise to protect it from further attacks. This plant has been attacked by drones many times before.

The plant

Kremniy El is the main manufacturer of components used in microelectronics for modern Russian weapons, including radar stations. The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation receives about 90 percent of the company’s total output.

The plant is located 110 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, which makes it accessible to various drones or missiles used by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
