Ukraine has signed a contract with Slovakia for the production of Zuzana 2 155-mm self-propelled guns.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made the announcement.
He spoke about the negotiations held during his visit to Slovakia. Volodymyr Zelensky had a discussion with his Slovak counterpart and had a meeting at the delegation level.
The cost of the new contract is not revealed, but it is known that it provides for the production of 16 units of Zuzana 2 self-propelled guns.
“I am grateful for the defense assistance, for all these months, and in particular for the support now. The day before, a contract for the production of 16 Zuzana 2 self-propelled guns was signed,” said Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine.
This is not the first contract for self-propelled guns of this type.
As Militarnyi previously reported, on June 2, 2022, Ukraine and Slovakia signed a contract on the supply of eight 155mm Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzers.
In the official statement by Slovakia of the transfer of self-propelled guns to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it was noted that 8 guns will be sent to Ukraine.
In addition, in October 2022, Germany, along with Denmark and Norway, financed the production and delivery of the Slovak 155-mm Zuzana 2 self-propelled guns for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Jaroslav Naď, Minister of Defense of Slovakia confirmed the agreements and published a photo of the signing of the agreement.
Already on January 16, 2023, Ukraine received the eighth Zuzana 2 self-propelled gun from Slovakia. This was the last self-propelled gun that Ukraine ordered in June 2022.
Zuzana 2 is a 155mm wheel-mounted, self-propelled gun manufactured by the Slovak company ZTS Special. It is an upgraded version of the Zuzana 155 mm, which was preceded by the Czechoslovak 152 mm SHkH vz.77 DANA self-propelled gun.
