An attack aircraft crashed near the border with Ukraine in Russia.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the Belgorod region, reported that the attack aircraft fell in the region.

According to preliminary information, the accident occurred in the Valuysky urban district on the outskirts of the village of Orekhovo.

The military aircraft crash could have been caused by a technical malfunction.

“In the Valuysky urban district, an Ministry of Defense aircraft crashed. As of now, the investigation team and Ministry of Emergencies employees are working at the scene. The cause of the incident is being investigated,” Gladkov wrote.

Photos allegedly from the crash site were published on social media.

According to local social media reports, the attack aircraft fell on a hay barn, after which a fire began, and the building burned down. The pilot ejected and was taken to the hospital.

However, the pilot soon died from injuries that were incompatible with life.

The Ministry of Defense of the aggressor state reported that the fall of the Su-25 attack aircraft was caused by a technical malfunction. In one of the published photos on social media, you can see that it was a plane with the registration number RF-95143 with the tail number 37 “yellow.”

Su-25 is a highly protected combat aircraft. Vital aircraft systems are duplicated and protected. Special attention is paid to the protection of critical components and elements – the cockpit and the fuel system.

In 2021, a Su-25 attack aircraft modernization program to the Su-25SM version started in Russia.

The updated aircraft received better combat capabilities.
