In Russia, a large-scale fire was reported in the oil and gas condensate Markovskoye field in the Irkutsk region.
Igor Kobzev, governor of the region, announced this.
According to preliminary data, there is a victim of the incident.
The fire has been classified with the third level of complexity. The fire likely occurred in an area of approximately 1000 square meters.
The condensate field is located 160 km southwest of the town of Kirensk, near the village of Verkhnemarkovo.
Oil reserves stored there are estimated at 20 million tons. The field is owned by the Irkutsk Oil Company.
The Russian local emergency service reports that the fire originated at a technological facility aimed at the complex preparation of natural gas.
“According to preliminary information, a torch burning was recorded at the facility, there is no threat to other facilities,” the emergency service reports.
The fire is currently being extinguished by private fire protection and a local volunteer fire brigade, as well as automatic fire extinguishing systems. Fire crews have moved to the scene.
“According to the report of the on-site fire extinguishing supervisor, the area of the fire is 400 square meters. 45 people and 17 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire,” the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations stated.
