The Russian army has control of a large part of Sievierodonetsk, fighting is ongoing in the central part of the city.

This was announced by Roman Vlasenko, Head of the Sievierodonetsk District Administration on Radio Svoboda.

He stressed that approximately 50% of the city was captured by the Russian troops.

“Russian troops have control of a significant part of Sievierodonetsk, with fighting ongoing in the central part of the city. Their (Russian military – Ed.) first assault was unsuccessful, we managed to dislodge them from the city. The second time they entered the outskirts, they managed to consolidate and create some kind of foothold. Geographically, the assault was carried out in three directions at once, along the perimeter,” Vlasenko said.

It was impossible to deliver humanitarian aid to civilians for about a week, there has been no evacuation possibility for days, and shelling and fighting are happening virtually round the clock.

On May 31 morning, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that Russian troops at the Donetsk front were concentrating their primary efforts on establishing control over the city of Sievierodonetsk.

On the Sievierodonetsk front, the Russian army is conducting assault operations near settlements Sievierodonetsk and Toshkivka, and the battles are ongoing.

The Ukrainian servicemen are repelling the enemy. Thus, on May 30 the destruction of a group of invaders was announced.
