The Royal Danish Navy was one of the few operators of the coastal version of the Harpoon missile anti-ship system.

According to open data, the Danish fleet had two batteries of this system as a part of coastal artillery.

The battery included two launchers (each with four launch containers).

The Harpoon coastal missile system has been in service in Denmark for 1988-2003 years.

The Royal Danish Navy has been using the Harpoon AShM and as a strike weapon for its ships since 1977.

It is also known that Denmark had signed a contract with Boeing to upgrade its Harpoons to Block II package. Its major difference from the previous versions is the ability to attack both naval and ground targets.

This was accomplished by equipping the rocket with the JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition) system, a new onboard computer, and a satellite-inertial GPS/INS navigation system.

The maximum flight range of such an anti-ship missile is 280 km.
