Russian Soldiers Surrender to Ukrainian Forces in Kupiansk via “I Want to Live” Program

In Kupiansk, soldiers of the 2nd Corps ‘Khartia’ captured three Russian servicemen after establishing remote contact through the state-run “I Want to Live” program.

The incident took place during Ukrainian operations in the urban area of Kupiansk, Kharkiv region, according to the 2nd Khartia Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine.

One of the Russian infantrymen initiated contact with Ukrainian forces via the program’s chatbot, which led to their surrender and capture.

After confirming their intention to surrender, reconnaissance units coordinated a safe exit.

The special operation to extract the serviceman was recorded on video.

According to the Russian POW, he had been stationed in Kupiansk for an extended period without rotations.

The serviceman stated that there was a lack of proper support from the Russian command.

During the evacuation, the group came under fire from Russian units.

Ukrainian forces reported that the prisoners were delivered to a safe area without any losses.

The “I Want to Live” Project

“I Want to Live” is used as an official channel for the voluntary surrender of Russian servicemen.

The service provides initial communication, identification, and instructions on the surrender procedure.

Previously, the 158th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine captured five invaders in the Donetsk region after addressing them via loudspeaker.
