On the night of February 19, Ukrainian drones struck an oil depot in the city of Velikiye Luki in Russia’s Pskov region, causing a fire to break out.

Astra reported the incident, and other Telegram channels shared photos and videos from the scene.

Russian forces had tried to shield the facility’s fuel storage tanks with anti-drone structures, but the protective measures proved ineffective.

It was later confirmed that the target was the Velikolukskaya Oil Depot, which LLC Pskovnefteprodukt owns.

Oil depot

An oil depot stores petroleum products (diesel fuel, gasoline, and other refined products) for subsequent shipment and distribution to gas station networks, enterprises, and transportation companies.

Pskov Region Governor Mikhail Vedernikov confirmed the successful strike on the facility by Ukrainian drones. He stated that one of the fuel storage tanks caught fire as a result of the nighttime attack. According to him, there were no casualties.

In the morning, the defense ministry of the aggressor country claimed it had allegedly shot down 113 Ukrainian drones overnight over various Russian regions. However, the Pskov region was not mentioned in the report.

A Ukrainian missile strike on the night of February 18 likely put the Michurinskaya gas turbine combined heat and power plant (CHP), owned by GT Energo, out of operation in Belgorod.
