The United Kingdom will join NATO’s program to buy American weapons for Ukraine.

UK Defence Secretary John Healey told Politico:

“I am pleased to confirm that the United Kingdom is allocating £150 million ($205 million) to PURL,” Healey said.

The Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) was created last summer to ensure a continuous supply of American weapons to Ukraine.

Under Donald Trump’s presidency, new military aid from Washington ran out; however, the White House is ready to sell weapons paid for by other allies.

During the NATO defence ministers’ meeting in Brussels on Thursday, February 12, the United States expects Alliance member states to announce new purchases of American weapons for Ukraine under the PURL initiative.

Alona Hetmanchuk, Ukraine’s NATO mission head, listed the countries that have provided Ukraine with the most support for acquiring critically needed American weapons, including air defense systems supplied through the PURL mechanism.
