More than 200 companies in Ukraine are working on producing ground robotic systems (UGV) for various purposes.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov shared this in an op-ed on RBC-Ukraine.

The Minister noted that robotic systems have become one of the game changers of modern technological warfare.

“Currently, more than 200 companies are working on the production of robots, and more than 40 developments are codified according to NATO standards,” the official reported.

To launch an open market for UGVs in Ukraine, the government has been actively working to create appropriate procedures, simplify the regulatory framework, and support developers and manufacturers.

Fedorov reminded that the first successful robotic mission has already been conducted. The Charter brigade in the Kharkiv area carried out this special operation in early December.

“This proves once again that robots, not people, should fight. This is a very realistic goal,” the Minister added.

The official emphasized that the next goal is for robots to perform 100% of logistics tasks at the front. He is confident that to achieve this, the state must purchase more developments and deliver them to the front, as well as meet 100% of the army’s needs for scientific and technological equipment and completely remove humans from logistics and engineering missions through the use of robotic systems.

Militarnyi recently spoke to one of the units of the NGU’s Khartiia Brigade, which is already using ground drones, to learn about the specifics of their use in combat.

Recent achievements

The German company ARX Robotics is integrating Ukrainian-made turrets into its ground robotic systems. The company is already supplying the Ukrainian Defense Forces with its UGVs with funding from the German government.

The engineers of the 3rd Assault Brigade have developed a kamikaze drone that uses TM-62 anti-tank mines instead of wheels.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has recently codified and authorized the Teslya logistics ground robotic system for use in the Defense Forces.
