Russians fired at a civilian light aircraft in the Murmansk region, confusing it for a Ukrainian attack drone.

A pair of ATEC 321 Faeta (RA-3363G) and BRM Aero Bristell (RA-2661G) light sport aircraft were fired upon during a routine flight in the Murmansk region.

Five minutes after takeoff, the pilot of the first aircraft reported problems with the second plane and sent a MAYDAY signal. The crew of the Bristell NG5 reported that small arms fire had been opened in their direction.

The pilots of both aircraft requested a change of flight plan: the first decided to land at the Apatity airfield, and the second decided to return to the place of departure. As a result, their flight lasted about 20 minutes.

According to the Baza channel’s source, after landing, Bristell’s commander reported that bullets had damaged the wing and headlights of the plane.

On September 11, the Russian government imposed restrictions on the use of airspace near the Murmansk and Apatity airports, where hostile attack drones were detected.

Andrei Chibis, governor of the region, later claimed that three drones had been shot down. At the same time, the Russian pro-government telegram channel Mash reported the alleged use of drones made on the basis of A-22 light aircraft.

In early April, a similar drone struck a Russian industrial complex near the city of Alabuga in Tatarstan, where Russian Shahed-136 attack drones are assembled.

Back then, to hit a Russian military facility, the drones had to travel about 1,200 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
