Paratroopers of the 79th Brigade defeated one of the largest assault groups of invaders ever, which tried to break through the defense in the Kurakhove sector.

The brigade’s press service released the footage of the battle.

The Ukrainian military described the assault’s repulsion, in which the invaders simultaneously engaged about two hundred infantrymen, 11 tanks, 45 armored personnel carriers with troops, and 1 Terminator tank support vehicle.

Along with the armored strike core, the Russian military used their traditional tactics, bringing into the battle a maneuver group on 12 motorcycles.

Russian attack aircraft, equal in number to a full-fledged battalion tactical group, moved toward the 79th Brigade’s positions at dawn.

According to the military, a brigade aerial reconnaissance unit far from the outskirts detected equipment moving in several directions, after which artillery and attack drones began to work on it.

“The first tanks and armored combat vehicles were stopped by our attack drone operators. Then the anti-tankers started fighting. A lot of equipment exploded on mines skillfully placed by the 79th Brigade sappers,” the press service shared.

After the first wave was fought off and the advanced vehicles were destroyed, the invaders started to retreat from the battlefield. The drone operator finished off the abandoned equipment and infantry.

It is reported that as a result of the assault, Ukrainian soldiers shot down 6 tanks and 7 infantry fighting vehicles, and completely destroyed an assault group of motorcyclists.

According to military estimates, the Russians suffered losses in personnel in the amount of 77 invaders: 40 killed and 37 wounded.

This assault was one of the largest, but not the first one in the area of responsibility of the 79th Air Assault Brigade paratroopers. Over the past month, the soldiers fought off two similar mechanized assaults, one of which required an air strike to stop.

Ukrainian paratroopers continue to hold their positions near Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk region. The village has been almost completely wiped out in heavy fighting.

In the Kurakhove sector, there are constant Russian attacks. In May, the Russians lost up to 11 units of equipment in one attempt to storm Novomykhailivka.
