Ukrainian cadets began a supervised shipboard service on a Polish sailboat

Cadets of the Ukrainian Naval Institute began their supervised shipboard service on the Polish ORP Iskra training sailboat.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Navy.

This training sailing vessel belongs to the Polish Naval Academy.

Ukrainian cadets in practice get acquainted with the organization of the ship’s service and study the main technical means of navigation of the sailboat.

In addition, they study the rules of maneuvering ships and vessels, as well as the area of navigation along the lane.

Cadets also practice other maritime training skills.

Supervised shipboard service of Ukrainian cadets on the Polish ORP Iskra takes place regularly. It is carried out within the framework of international cooperation.

The Ukrainian Navy said that the three-masted barquentine ORP Iskra is a training vessel of the Polish Navy and the second in history with that name. The sailboat was commissioned in 1982. This is the first Polish ship to circumnavigate the world.

Another group of Ukrainian cadets of the Naval Institute in October last year graduated from practice on small sailing ships at the Naval Academy in Murwick.

This is the basic university of the German fleet, which is located in the city of Flensburg.

The initial sailing training of Ukrainians on small sailing ships involved the acquisition of primary skills in managing a sailing ship, practicing command actions at sea and servicing a sailing ship, etc.

Then Ukrainian cadets worked in groups of up to five people, practicing the management of yachts of the ASTA, TAIFUN and SUNBEAM 36.2 types.
