The Armed Forces of Ukraine are armed with the Turkish Roketsan MCL rocket launcher.
The Ukrainian Weapon Tracker project drew attention to a photo that the 49th Artillery Brigade posted on its Facebook page.
The photo features the launcher and the reloader truck of the Turkish system.
“We are ready for a counteroffensive,” reads the caption posted by the soldiers from the 49th Artillery Brigade.
This is the first visual confirmation of the Defense Forces of Ukraine using this weapon. The camouflage in the 49th Brigade’s photo is similar to that which can be seen in the exhibition sample of the Turkish company.
However, instead of two blocks with 6 launch tubes for 230mm rockets, one can see two blocks with two launch tubes each.
The Roketsan MCL modular system theoretically also allows firing with Turkish 122mm and 300mm rockets.
Interestingly, the system is mounted on the Russian KAMAZ-65224 chassis.
Previously, the Oryx portal, citing its own sources, reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces received Rocketsan TRLG-230 precision-guided missiles as early as the summer of 2022.
TRLG-230 is a surface-to-surface missile. It can be launched from the ROKETSAN MCL (Multi-Caliber Launcher) artillery system and other platforms with compatible interfaces.
During the demonstration of the missile sample in August 2020, the target designation was carried out by the Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicle.
Specifications:
Caliber – 230 mm
Weight – 210 kg
Warhead weight – 42 kg
Effective radius of warhead – up to 55 m
Range – 20-70 km
The system is in service with Azerbaijan and Bangladesh.
