Military of Ukraine received M88A2 Hercules ARV

The Ukrainian military received an American M88A2 Hercules armored recovery vehicle.

Footage of this vehicle and the Ukrainian military was published on social media in the SuperNova group. It is also possible that the video was shot during Ukrainian military exercises in one of the European countries.

The Hercules is necessary for restoring the operability and technical support of modern tank troops.

This specialized equipment is designed for the maintenance of vehicles weighing up to 70 tons.

Presumably, the vehicle arrived in one of the defense assistance packages from the United States.

On January 25, President Joseph Biden announced that in the upcoming package, Ukraine will receive eight M88 ARVs.

It should be noted that the United States ordered the production of M88A2 Hercules for Poland in December of last year.

The armed forces of Poland should receive a total of 38 M88A2 Hercules armored recovery vehicles.

The M88A2 Hercules is an advanced variant of the M88 ARV. The crew consists of three people.

The key feature of the M88A2 Hercules, compared to its predecessor, is an improved brake amplifier. It is needed to ensure the towing of the Abrams M1A2 main battle tanks for recovery.

The vehicle has increased engine power, an improved electrical system, a retrofitted hydraulic system and a crane boom.

Recall that in 2022, Ukraine received M984A4 HEMTT ARV, which operated in the Kherson region.
