The Russian invasion forces lost the MT-LB 6MB armored fighting vehicle.
Photos featuring the damaged vehicle were published by the Belarusian volunteers of the Kastius Kalinovsky Regiment.
The Russians left the vehicle at one of the sections of the frontline.
The MT-LB is a multi-purpose light-tracked armored fighting vehicle that was developed and adopted in 1964. It was produced at the Kharkiv Tractor Plant.
The vehicle is designed to transport people and cargo, or be used as an artillery tractor for trailer guns.
It can also serve as an armored personnel carrier in transporting personnel of motorized rifle units, although it is not its primary function.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia started developing various options for MT-LB modernization.
The main innovation during the modernization of Soviet AFV to become the MT-LB 6MB modification was adding the turret with a gun. Previously, such weapons were not used on the vehicles of this family, and the basic versions were only equipped with a machine gun.
The MT-LB hull was equipped with a 6MB turret, which was borrowed from the BTR-80А.
The turret is armed with a 30mm 2А72 autocannon and a 7.62mm PKTM machine gun. Such a system significantly increased the firepower of the vehicle.
All ammunition is stored outside the hull of the vehicle. A gunner’s position equipped with controls and combined sights is located inside the combat compartment below the roof of the hull.
The soldiers of the Defense Forces of Ukraine also captured the Russian КамАZ-43269 “Vystrel” armored vehicle.
