The first reports of the incident popped up at 2 a.m.
The videos featuring the explosions suggest it took place at a military facility of the Russian invasion forces in the Donbas.
The location likely stored ammunition, fuel, and lubricants for equipment.
At the time of this publication, the detonation of ammunition continues. The highway traffic towards Ilovaisk on the temporarily occupied territory is currently blocked. This may be due to the danger of munition debris.
Ilovaisk is a town of regional significance in the Donetsk Region of Ukraine, subordinate to the Khartsyzk City Council of the city of Khartsyzk. The town has an important railway junction. Since 2014, the city has been under the control of Russian invasion forces and pro-Russian militants.
