The United States might supply Ukraine with four MQ-1C Gray Eagle drones.

Reuters reports about this, citing sources familiar with the situation.

These drones can be armed with Hellfire guided air-to-ground missiles designed to destroy armored vehicles and other ground targets.

It is reported that in the coming days, the President Joe Biden Administration intends to notify Congress of the potential sale to Ukraine of the MQ-1C drones manufactured by General Atomics, with a public announcement expected to follow.

News agency sources shared that there is also a risk of a last-minute policy reversal that could scuttle the plan, which has been under review at the Pentagon for several weeks.

American Gray Eagle drones can fly up to 30 or more hours depending on the mission and can gather huge amounts of data for intelligence purposes.

Gray Eagles drones, the improved version of the more widely known Predator drone, can also carry up to eight powerful Hellfire missiles.

The publication notes that the sale of MQ-1C is significant for Ukraine due to the fact that these drones take the country’s defense to a new level. It should be noted that previously, there have already been reports on plans to purchase heavy drones from General Atomics.

The MQ-1C Gray Eagle drone is a reconnaissance and strike UAV developed by the General Atomics Aeronautical Systems. It can fly up to 30 hours, developing a speed of up to 280 km/h.

The multi-purpose drone is designed primarily for reconnaissance with a range of up to 400 kilometers but can perform the functions of a strike drone.

To do this, it can carry four AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-ground missiles or up to four GBU-44 guided bombs and other weapons and special equipment.

It was previously reported that Ukraine will be receiving HIMARS systems as part of a $700 million military aid package.
