For Russia, the key task now is to surround the Ukrainian forces holding the defense in the Sieverodonetsk-Lysychansk-Rubizhne areas. The Russians are concentrating most of their efforts and resources on this task.
Serhiy Haidai, Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration shared about it on the air of the United News information marathon.
According to him, up to 2,500 units of military equipment were brought to the Popasna district in recent days. From here, the Russian Armed Forces seek to reach the Bakhmut-Sieverodonetsk highway and thus begin surrounding the Ukrainian forces. The Russians are trying to move towards the target through the village of Komyshuvakha.
According to the Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the following actions of the Russians demonstrated the after-February-24 decline of their ambitions to capture Ukraine:
“All forces are thrown in the direction of Luhansk because there was initially a planning of “getting Kyiv in three days”. Then “just getting Kyiv”. Then “at least Kharkiv, Sumy”. Then “a huge cauldron in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions”, then “a small cauldron”. Now they are approaching to “at least take the Luhansk region in the encirclement.”
Fighting is currently ongoing in the satellite villages of Sieverodonetsk – Shchedrychevo in the north and Voronov in the south.
In the area of Bilohorivka, according to Haidai, the Russians refuse to move forward. According to him, there are radio interceptions about the order to re-cross the Siversky Donets river in the area, and this order is being sabotaged by a group of 500 Russian servicemen.
